Lie number five: They say to themselves, “My anger is justified.”
You can observe that lying to themselves and making you the one who services them, is going to build a whole lot of frustration and friction within them, and it’s going to express itself toward you. When they’re angry, what they’re telling you is, “You’re cutting in on me. You’re ruining my plans.” No matter how nasty the anger is, no matter how nasty they are, “You had it coming to you. You brought it on yourself.” And if you’ve got an issue with their anger, it’s not their fault it’s because you led the whole thing off. That’s how they rationalize themselves.
Lief number six: This just goes with it. They believe, “
My opinions must become your truth,” and there’s no space to allow for any type of disagreement. They can be stubbornly closed-minded and bullheadedly pushy in attempting to get you to think their way. So when you arrive and are like, “My mind works differently, or my thought regards these things that you did not,” rather than thinking, “Oh, I guess I can learn from you,” it’s like, “No, no, no, no.” They shut you off and try to force-feed their thoughts to you. It’s frustrating because, honestly, I’m an open mind.
Lie number seven: “Your independence is rebellion or rejection.”
See, they regard themselves as the final stronghold of truth when they are custodians of the rules rules that they have the luxury of writing and editing by their caprice. But they work on the principle of “Freedom for me, subjugation for you.” They don’t want you to be free, and this is particularly true when they are in positions of authority—whether it’s parenting, being the head of the family, business, or organizations. Whenever you’ve got someone in a position of authority, this double standard of “freedom for me and subjugation for you” comes very clearly. They require you to fall into line and fall into line fast.
