They want what others have but aren’t willing to work for it or earn it themselves. Instead, they want others to fail so they can swoop in and take what they want without working for it.
Number 10: They Want To Get Attention And Validation.
Narcissists love attention and validation from other people. They need it, crave it, and will do whatever they can to get it. They may not be able to get enough positive attention from being adored by others, so they also want to be feared and respected. If people aren’t giving them the attention or admiration they think they deserve, that’s where the destruction comes in.
The most common way narcissists seek attention is by putting other people down. They do this by criticizing their appearance or other personal attributes, trying to make them look stupid, or even insulting them outright as a way of making themselves feel superior.
Narcissists also enjoy telling stories about their extraordinary lives and how lucky everyone else is compared to them, even when these stories are entirely false. One of the most common characteristics of narcissistic people is that they tend to destroy others.
They do this to feel superior and powerful and distract themselves from their feelings of inferiority. It’s easy for narcissists to destroy others because they don’t care about anyone but themselves, so when someone else gets hurt because of their behavior, it doesn’t bother them much at all.
