Number 2: The narcissist will be more irritable and restless.
Narcissists tend to operate with anxiety, particularly regarding their life and accomplishments. Restlessness and irritability ensue when they begin feeling cornered and unwilling to continue even a step further. Although they generally appear calm and collected, nothing could be further from the truth. When depressed, a narcissist will be quite volatile in their anger and emotional impulses.
They tend to erupt out of the blue or just be looking for a fight over minor issues. Narcissism would at times tilt towards paranoia, even more than usual. In these periods, they become suspicious and jealous.
Number 3: They have a permanently low mood and energy.
Among the most common signs of a depressed narcissist, continuous low mood can take on such forms as sadness, irritability, or anger. Narcissists usually possess very low energy levels and tend to be highly demotivated to carry out most of the normal activities. For them, there are excuses for not doing things, or they will just stop doing it all. But in a case where a narcissist is down, it is much worse than just having a bad day; to them, it’s the entire world crashing down around them.
They would thus be constantly complaining about feeling tired, sad, or demotivated. They may sulk or withdraw from people, meaning they won’t be their usual selves. Narcissists can thus become apathetic regarding work, hobbies, or relationships and reflect this indifference through laziness or lack of motivation.
