Number 3: They want to suck you back in so that they can be the ones to discard you.
The narcissist wants to get back into your life not because they love and adore you, not because they learned some great lesson, but because they want to suck you back in so that they can be the one to discard you. This is all a game for them. The narcissistic injury was too severe when you were the one that ended things when you were the one that went no-contact when you were the one that said, “I’ve had enough.”
The narcissistic injury was too severe, so they have to fool you and trick you and suck you back in to get you back in line, to get you back on the rope, and then they will discard you in the most humiliating way because the injury to them, and their ego, is too severe to let you go without punishment.
They want to bring you back in just to punish you, to continue the abuse, to punish you and say, “Yeah, you’ll never think about doing this again. Oh, you thought you had me? Nope, not so much. Now I got you right where I want you, and I’m going to squeeze and twist until you scream out in pain and agony.” This is the prime set of the narcissist.
