We are all fairly confident when it comes to our ability to identify someone who may be an overt narcissist. People who are overt or grandiose narcissists are those individuals who will loudly and proudly display their excessive self-esteem and proudly display their excessive self-esteem, who will present themselves as omnipotent, omniscient beings whose explicit beliefs in their uniqueness and importance are only matched by their shameless demands for special treatment.

Covert narcissists, otherwise known as vulnerable narcissists or closet, shy, or fragile narcissists, are harder to detect due to their psychological constitution, which is somewhat different from that of their overt counterparts, which we will be exploring in more detail in this topic.

So in today’s article, we are going to look at nine signs that may indicate you are dealing with a covert narcissist. Both overt and covert narcissists are characterized by their strong belief in their superiority, attention- and admiration-seeking behaviors, extremely superficial and selective empathy, sense of entitlement, and emphasis on self-serving bias. The ways by which covert narcissists try to maintain this narcissistic core are somewhat different from the methods grandiose narcissists use to achieve the same goal.

It is very important to spot the following nine signs that a person may be a covert narcissist since they are more difficult to identify as narcissists by people who are not mental health professionals.
