The narcissist’s secret struggle
You see, when you leave a narcissist, especially if you did it standing tall and unbroken, they do not just shrug it off. Oh, they’ll tell you they do not care. They will act like you never existed to the world. They will either badmouth you, labeling you crazy, difficult, or toxic, or they will altogether avoid saying your name at all, like you are dead to them. But that is a lie a lie they want you to believe.
You didn’t just walk away. You walked away with your power and theirs. You became the proof that they failed, the evidence that their control wasn’t as absolute as they believed. And narcissists, what do they do? They hate unfinished business, don’t they? They thrive on domination, the satisfaction of knowing they have destroyed you, broken you down completely. But when they do not manage to fully crush you, destroy you, you become their greatest living shame: the one who survived the crush, survived them, the one who stood in the fire, faced their darkness, and walked out stronger.
Which is why they become so envious and dark. You do not get to see amicability or understanding, even mutual respect, after cutting off ties with them. They become mean and nasty. They secretly see you as a reminder of their defeat, and that is what you need to know.
