Now, if they determine that yes, you indeed can provide them with the image they desire, that you possess the one thing that they debut as the most important thing to have, then they will next be watching you to make sure you are not one of them. They generally do not want to get involved with another narcissist, so they will be watching you for signs of empathy, compassion, loyalty, and responsibility.
Why? Because they are acutely aware that they will need to manipulate these things in you, later on down the line when they start to reveal their true character or lack thereof.
They want someone with very high levels of these personality traits because they know you will be easier to manipulate, and therefore, you will be more likely to stay with them for the long haul.
If they can also detect that you have a little bit of trauma in your past, then that makes you an even bigger target, and if they happen to catch you at a particularly vulnerable time in your life, then you are a prime catch for them. They know these things will make you more susceptible to their charms. This is one of their very biggest and deepest secrets that they do not want you to know.
