Narcissism 101

What Phrases Do Narcissists Say the Most?

6. “You’re just trying to ruin my life.”

During a divorce, expect the narcissist to drag out the process, using every opportunity to create chaos and prolong your emotional suffering. Phrases like “You’re just trying to ruin my life” may surface during legal battles. They frame themselves as the victim, making it appear that your actions—rather than their refusal to cooperate are the cause of the drawn-out proceedings.

7. “I’m not paying child support unless the court orders me to.”

Narcissists are notorious for avoiding responsibility, especially when it comes to financial obligations like child support. If you have children together, don’t be surprised if they say, “I’m not paying child support unless the court orders me to.” Their reluctance to contribute reflects their self-centeredness and disregard for their children’s well-being unless legally forced to do so.

8. “You’re crazy, and everyone knows it.”

When a narcissist feels they are losing control, they often try to destroy your reputation. They might go around telling friends, family, or even colleagues that “You’re crazy, and everyone knows it.” This smear campaign serves two purposes: to make you look bad and to make them appear like the innocent victim.
